Program Overview
Summer of Spanish Aventura is a 12-week virtual Spanish immersion experience designed for children and teens ages 5โ18. Classes are held live via Zoom in small groups (maximum 10 students), and organized by age and experience level to create the most supportive learning environment possible. Whether your child is brand-new to Spanish or continuing from a dual immersion or school-based program, theyโll join a group that encourages growth, creativity, and confidence through consistent, structured exposure to the language. Each week features a new cultural theme, giving students a meaningful context for using Spanish while developing real-world vocabulary, comprehension, and conversational skills.
Our curriculum is age-appropriate, developmentally aligned, and intentionally varied to support learners at all stages. While each group is leveled, we welcome natural differences within the classroomโbecause students benefit not only from individual attention, but also from hearing Spanish modeled in different ways. From playful storytelling and visual activities to songs, games, and cultural projects, every class is immersive and interactive. English is used sparingly or only when needed in beginner groups, allowing students to absorb the rhythm, sound, and meaning of Spanish naturallyโjust like they learned their first language.
Students participate without the pressure of translation or memorization. Instead, they learn through connection: associating what they see, do, and hear with the Spanish being used around them. This approach not only builds vocabulary and listening comprehensionโit fosters joy, curiosity, and the confidence to start speaking when ready. With flexible enrollment options, supportive instruction, and weekly curriculum provided, Summer of Spanish Aventura makes it easy for families to bring language learning home in a fun, culturally rich, and developmentally respectful way.
At the heart of this program is a teaching approach grounded in both research and real-world experience. As a bilingual educator with over a decade of tutoring and homeschooling experience, Iโve seen firsthand how children acquire language best: through meaningful interaction, repetition, and emotionally engaging content. Research from language development experts like Stephen Krashen supports this: children acquire language most effectively when they receive comprehensible input in low-stress, engaging environments. Thatโs why each of my classes is designed to balance structure with creativityโimmersing students in real Spanish while supporting their natural learning rhythms. Studies also show that early exposure to a second language boosts cognitive flexibility, problem-solving skills, and empathyโall benefits that extend far beyond the classroom. At Summer of Spanish Aventura, weโre not just learning a languageโweโre building confidence, cultural understanding, and a love of learning that lasts.
